What became Wayne was a region that was crossed by the Sauk Trail, which made it an area visited by Potawatomi and French fur traders for years before it became a permanent settlement. Wayne has a rich automotive history and presently houses 2 Ford plants.

Downtown Wayne has experienced a revitalization and is anchored by the iconic State Wayne Theater, now the Phoenix State Wayne Theater, opened in 1946 and today houses heated and reclining seats – we love those!
