Howell is the County Seat of Livingston County and was originally platted as Livingston Center by a group of settlers from Detroit.

Today, Howell is a thriving community nestled between Lansing and Novi. It draws more than 100,000 visitors each June for the annual Michigan Challenge Fest hot air balloon festival.
