Are You “Putting a Man on the Moon?”
During a visit to the NASA space center in 1962, President Kennedy noticed a janitor carrying a broom. He interrupted his tour, walked over to the man and said, “Hi, I’m Jack Kennedy. What do you do here?” The janitor responded with enthusiasm, “I’m helping to put a man on the moon, Mr. President.”
What a great story! Obviously, the janitor understood the importance of his contribution. He truly felt he was a valuable part of something bigger than himself, and his attitude created a feeling of self-confidence in his mission. He wasn’t merely a janitor, he was a member of the NASA Space Team!
The condition of a facility is a direct reflection on that business. A clean facility helps create an environment that shows whether that business cares about the health and comfort of their customers and employees.
Think for a moment how you feel when you’re somewhere (a store, a doctor’s office, a restaurant, etc.) with a noticeable lack of cleanliness like a dirty bathroom or yucky, smeary windows. Don’t you think twice about going back?
Our responsibility is an important one. While our industry isn’t always glamorous, what we do is an integral part of successful and well-respected businesses. Never let anyone tell you otherwise!

Steve here with this month’s culture corner! I have a couple of exciting announcements for you to check out.
First, we’re kicking off a brand-new program called the Employee Spotlight. It’s a simple and fun way to celebrate all of you! We’ll randomly select employees each month to participate, and it’s entirely voluntary. When you’re chosen, we’ll ask you for a headshot and to answer a few fun questions that highlight your unique awesomeness and what you bring to the table. Our marketing department will polish your responses and feature them in our newsletter and on several social media platforms. How cool is this!
Second, a friendly reminder that our anonymous Semi-annual Survey is coming up as we approach Spring. This brief survey is your chance to share your thoughts and opinions on how we’re doing. Help us improve our game! We’ll send more information out toward the start of April.
