Eisenhower Center – A Quality Partner
Populist Cleaning Co. has a wonderful variety of customers. We clean large and small office facilities, medical clinics, light industrial facilities, banks and credit unions, to name a few. We are always on the look out for potential quality employees to help us care for our facilities. People who align with our core values and company vision.
About three years ago, the Eisenhower Center contacted us about a potential candidate. This is when we first learned about their organization and their process of supported employment.
How it Works
One of their coordinators will call to let us know an application for employment has been submitted to us. They give us an overview of the strengths and areas of opportunity for the candidate. They identify any support the candidate would need.
We’ve learned that matching the right person with the right facility is crucial for long-term success. If the coordinator and our hiring manager believes there could be a good fit for any of our current job openings, the potential employee then follows the same process as all other applicants including a personal interview and pre-hire orientation session.
This is the unique part: a job coach from Eisenhower Center accompanies them every step of the way. The job coach is familiar with the applicant and any special needs they may have. They ensure the applicant understands the questions we ask, the employee paperwork, and the requirements and tasks for the job.
If the candidate is hired and accepts the job offer, the job coach attends all training sessions. They work on site with the new employee for as long as the employee needs them. They don’t do the work for them. They offer support and instruction as necessary. The job coach also assists them in complaint resolution if any issues arise in the future. What a great example of quality partnering!
Populist has hired 8 people through this process. All have stayed since their hire date – no quitters here! These inspiring women and men are working hard to overcome more than many people will ever have to face in their lifetimes. We appreciate these quality partners!
