Intro to the E.O.S® VTO – Vision/Traction Organizer

As mentioned in last month’s newsletter, Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) is a business management framework that helps business owners and leadership teams get their businesses running smoothly.

The Vision/Traction Organizer (VTO) is a key component of EOS.

This two page document defines and organizes Populist’s vision, mission, and goals.

The Vision Side defines who we are, and what we want to be:

  • Core Values: the principles that guide our decision-making
  • Core Focus: what Populist does best and what makes us unique
  • Ten-Year Target: our vision for the future, 10 years from now
  • Marketing Strategy: how we’ll present ourselves to the world
  • Three-Year Picture: our vision for the future, three years from now

The Traction Side organizes and tracks how we’ll accomplish our Vision using these sections:

  • One-Year Plan: our goals for the coming year
  • 90-Day Rocks: the most important tasks that need to be completed in the next 90 days
  • Quarterly Goals: what needs to be achieved each quarter
  • Annual Goals: the goals that need to be achieved each year

The VTO is a living document that is updated regularly as Populist grows and changes. It is a valuable tool for keeping our leadership team focused on our goals and for ensuring that everyone in the company is working towards the same thing.

Populist’s VTO is not a one-time exercise. By regularly reviewing and updating the VTO, we can stay on track and make sure that we are moving in the right direction.
