Encouraging Clean Habits:
With the cost of oil on the rise, so goes the cost of trash liners.
The cost of all petroleum
based products has increased, and we continue to expect to see more increases in the near and long term future. In every negative
is a chance to look for the positive. This is a great opportunity to encourage good habits that will translate into savings.
As a
cleaning service, our job is to remove and replace all trash liners that have food, liquid, or other unsanitary substances in them.
Consider the number of waste baskets in your facility, at every desk, every restroom, every coffee station, etc., that have petroleum
based trash liners.
Some of our customers have enforced the strict policy of no food or drink in individual wastebaskets. The staff
must take their food and drink trash to the kitchen and dispose of it there. Such a policy has several benefits: Cleaners do
not have to change liners nearly as often, saving the customer money; cleaners can do their job in a more efficient manner; no food
or drink in wastebaskets throughout the facility reduces the risk of food and drink getting on the carpet through holes in liners;
thereby reducing potential carpet cleaning costs to the customer.
For those customers that are not cleaned every night, the
sanitation level is raised throughout the building by not having food and drink sitting in trash receptacles creating foul odors until
the next time the trash is removed.
Of course, each facility has to decide what is most appropriate for their staff and working conditions,
but those that take steps toward policies of this nature stand to benefit in costs and in creating a cleaner environment throughout
their facility.
